How to Turn Off Immersive Reader and Language Translator Tools
By default, both tools are enabled for all students. While they can be powerful aids, there are a few situations where turning them off might be necessary.
- To ensure students work independently. For tasks or assessments where students need to demonstrate their own understanding, these tools may be disabled.
- To prevent over-reliance. Students may sometimes rely too heavily on these tools, which could impact their progress, especially when you're evaluating their reading or language comprehension.
- To manage distractions. In some cases, students might use these features in ways that could disrupt their focus or distract others in the classroom.
Before you begin:
Identify the specific student(s) who require these changes.
Step 1: Search for the Student:
- Navigate to the Universal Search Bar at the top right of your screen.
- Type the name of the student for whom you want to disable the Immersive Reader or Language Translator tools, and click the appropriate search result.
- This will bring you to the student's profile page.
Step 2: Locate Tool Settings
- From the student's profile page, locate the Settings area. Here, you will see toggle switches for various features, including:
- Immersive Reader
- Language Translator
Step 3: Toggle Tools to "Off"
- Click the toggle switch to move it to the "Off" position for the specific tool you wish to disable.
- The changes are saved automatically. The student will no longer see these tools the next time they launch a Penda activity.
Note: If you need to disable these tools for multiple students, simply repeat this process for each individual student profile.
