How to Use the Updated Search Feature in the Assignment Wizard
The updated search feature in Penda makes it simple to locate and assign the right activities for your students. This article walks you through the different ways you can search and select activities while building an assignment.
Step 1: Create a New Assignment
When you reach the area to Add Activities, you’ll see a search bar in the assignment wizard. This is where you can choose how to search for activities.
Step 2: Search
Search All Activities (Global Search)
By default, the search is set to Search All Activities, also called Global Search. This shows everything available in your Penda subscription, including content from other grade levels.
Global Search is especially useful if you want to assign remediation activities from lower grades or enrichment activities from higher grades.
For example, if you type in a standard, all activities tied to that standard will instantly appear across the products available to you.
FLORIDA SCHOOLS: Global Search results will also include Florida’s Additional Activities. These are more rigorous, three-dimensional science activities with embedded simulations.
These activities are clearly labeled with the standard number in the title and also display the cluster of other included standards.
Search by Keyword
You can also search by keyword instead of standard. Results may span multiple grade levels, so always check the standards to ensure they fit your students’ needs.
Search in Product (Product Search)
You can limit your results to a specific product by selecting Search in Product. This option narrows the search to the product selected in the menu.
Notice that the folders below update automatically when you select a different product.
Browse by Grade Level Folders

Another option is to browse by drilling down through the grade level folders and scrolling. This is especially useful when looking for grade-level assessments, including high-stakes test prep assessments.
Step 3: Add Activities to Your Assignment
Once you’ve found the activities you want—such as Developing, Achieving, and a Mini-Assessment, or a test prep assessment—click the plus sign next to each activity to add it to your assignment.
On the confirmation screen, review your selections carefully, then click Finish to publish your assignment.
Tips: Why This Matters
Using the updated search feature ensures that you can quickly find the most relevant activities for your students. Whether you’re targeting remediation, providing enrichment, or preparing for assessments, the search options give you flexibility and control. By mastering this tool, you’ll save time and make it easier to match activities to your students’ needs.
